On Friday, November 17, 2017, the Troy-Miami County Public Library, Troy Local History Library, and Oakes-Beitman Branch in Pleasant Hill will be closed for a Staff Training Day. As always, the outside book drop will be open for your convenience.
No Talent for Art? No Problem! Adults and teens are invited to Troy-Miami County Public Library on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. for Bad Art Night. Unleash your inner awful artist and unwind by making some really bad or even really good art, all supplies will be provided. Prizes will be awarded to the good, the bad, and the downright ugly artwork of the night. Registration is required and available online beginning November 16, 2017.
THE BIG READ BOOK FOR 2018: The Underdogs by Melissa Fay Greene
Miami Valley readers have cast their votes and chosen the next book for the Big Read community reading project. The winner is The Underdogs: Children, Dogs and the Power of Unconditional Love, by Melissa Fay Greene. This nonfiction book tells the story of the founding of 4 Paws For Ability, a nonprofit organization based in Xenia, Ohio, that trains and places service dogs internationally.

With the holidays comes stress for many people. Alisha Barton, a program coordinator for Family and Consumer Sciences for the OSU Extension Office in Miami County, will be discussing using humor to deal with stress.
