Borrowing Guide
There is no charge to borrow materials from Troy-Miami County Public Library, provided they are returned on time and in good condition. To check out items, you must present your library card or photo ID, or should know your library card number and pin.
Loan Periods
Each type of item you check out with your library card may be borrowed for a certain amount of time before you have to bring it back to us. Items have a loan period of either 1 or 3 weeks. If no one else is waiting to use an item you’ve checked out, you may be able to keep it longer by renewing it.
1 week: Fast Reads, Museum passes, Library of Things items
3 weeks: everything else
Renewals
Many borrowed items are eligible to be automatically renewed if no one else is waiting for the item. You may also renew items by accessing your account online or by visiting or calling the library. Some items, such as museum passes, are never eligible for renewal.
Lost or Damaged Items
You won't be charged for normal wear and tear or for minor damage that doesn't change how useful an item is. You will be charged for items that are not returned or for items that incur significant damage—such as water damage—when they are in your possession.
Borrowing Limits
You may check out up to 99 items at a time with a regular, full-service library card. Provisional card holders may check out up to 3 items.
Fees must be below $10 to check out.
Curbside Service
The Troy-Miami County Public Library offers Curbside Service at both the Troy Main Branch and the Oakes-Beitman Memorial Library in Pleasant Hill. Patrons may pick up their holds without an appointment by parking in designated curbside spots at either location. This service is intended for hold pickup only. Items for return should be placed in the exterior book returns available at each library location.
