The Library of Things is your gateway to borrowing more than just books! At the Troy-Miami County Public Library, we offer a growing collection of unique and useful items—everything from telescopes and projectors to crafting tools and kitchen appliances. Whether you're planning a family game night, exploring a new hobby, or tackling a DIY project, you can borrow the tools you need for free with your library card.

Browse the collection and reserve items online for pickup at your convenience. It’s just one more way we’re helping you explore, create, and learn—right from your own home.

What You’ll Need

To get Items from the Library of Things, patrons will need a valid library card and their four digit pin. If you need a card or it needs to be updated please visit the Library card page for more information.

When checking out a Maker Lab specific item it will require a valid email address and phone number from the patron who is checking out the item.

Checking Out Items

Items can be picked up at specified TMCPL location on the date specified. Uncollected holds will be canceled at the time of closing to allow other patrons the opportunity to use the item.  

All Maker Lab items are seven day loans and must be returned directly to Maker Lab staff and not left unattended or with other library materials. Batteries are not included unless stated otherwise.

Seed Library

Stop by TMCPL (Main) and browse the selection of FREE seeds available to community members and library cardholders. Seeds can be checkout at the Circulation Desk, all you need is your library card.

Your Responsibilities

The item is to be used only for its intended purpose, any instructions provided by the library must be followed. Borrower agrees to keep the item clean and in good working condition. If item is not working as intended please return to the library and notify staff, do not attempt to repair or modify/alter items. Patrons are responsible for the value of any lost/stolen items.

Library staff do not provide any training for items.
