Troy-Miami County Public Library is transitioning to a new library system. This change gives you access to library materials across Ohio, reduces costs, and gives us greater local control over our services. Thank you for your patience and support during this transition.
All patrons will need a Troy-Miami County Public Library Card to borrow, place holds on TMCPL materials, and access all library resources, including the Maker Lab, before our new system launches in November. Libby will remain accessible through the changes. Try the app on your favorite device for eBooks, audiobooks, Magazines, and more. Below is a timeline of events.
Date: September 16
- The TMCPL and Dayton Metro Library (DML) catalogs will separate. You will only see TMCPL items in the catalog.
- Items from other libraries, including DML, will not be available until after Go-Live. After Go-Live, you can request items through SearchOhio for pickup at Troy, Pleasant Hill, the YMCA locker, or on the Bookmobile.
Date: September 23
- Items borrowed from a library other than TMCPL will no longer be renewed. Please return them by their due date.
- If you have a DML or Bradford card, you’ll need to get a TMCPL card to check out.
Date: October 31
- Last day to check out items before the library closes for the catalog update. Most library systems will be unavailable after this date until Nov. 4.
Date: November 1-3 (Final Steps)
- All TMCPL locations will be closed to the public while our systems are offline and we move data to the new system. You will not be able to check out or check in items.
- No patron items are due November 1–8, so please keep your items at home if you can. We do not charge late fees!
- Our online catalog and patron accounts will be unavailable. You will not be able to renew items during this time.
- Libby, Kanopy, PressReader, and TMCPL databases will be available during most of this time.
Date: November 4 - GO LIVE
- You’ll need a TMCPL card that starts with a 1002 prefix to check out items or use services at any TMCPL location, including the Maker Lab, Oakes-Beitman Branch, Troy Library, and Bookmobile.
- You may experience brief interruptions for digital services like Libby, Kanopy, and PressReader throughout the day as we switch authentication to the new system.
- Your current PIN can not be moved to the new system. Your new PIN/Password will be the last four digits of the phone number on your library account. You can change your PIN anytime through your online account at catalog.tmcpl.org or by calling any TMCPL location.
Additional Information: After Go-Live, you’ll be able to request DML materials and items from public and academic libraries
across Ohio through SearchOhio. The exact date will depend on how quickly our new system is up and running and materials are added. During the SearchOhio outage, staff can still request SEO materials for you.
This is a coordinated effort by multiple libraries, agencies, and service providers, and dates may change.
