Troy-Miami County Public Library is transitioning to a new library system this fall. This change gives you access to library materials from across Ohio, reduces costs, and provides greater local control of our services. Thank you for your patience and support as we make this transition.
What you need to know:
- All patrons will need a Troy-Miami County Public Library Card to borrow and place holds on TMCPL materials and access all library resources, including the Maker Lab, before our new system launches this fall
- Starting September 16, only items in our collection will be listed in the catalog and be available for checkout. Dayton Metro and Bradford items will be excluded at this time, but they will be available again in SearchOhio after the transition to our new system.
- Libby will remain accessible through the changes. Try the app on your favorite device for eBooks, audiobooks, Magazines, and more.
- We have access to the SEO Library Consortium now! Our staff is happy to assist you with using this new resource at the desk.
- In early November, our new and improved catalog will be available!
What are SearchOhio and SEO?
SearchOhio and SEO are statewide networks of public libraries that allow you to borrow books, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, and other materials from participating libraries across Ohio. Our partnerships with these consortiums expand the number of books, movies, and other items available to our patrons while helping us continue to provide excellent service. SearchOhio makes over 16 million items available to patrons from public and academic libraries in Ohio, while the SEO library consortium includes over 8.1 million items from 104 library systems.
If an item isn't available at Troy-Miami County Public Library, there's a good chance we can borrow it for you through SearchOhio or SEO.
How do I request an item?
- Use the link in the catalog. Currently, the link appears after you search for an item. Look for the blue link to “Try your search in Search Ohio.” Or ask a staff member for assistance. If the item is not available via SearchOhio, ask staff to borrow it using SEO, and we will place the request if the item is available.
- You will be notified when your item is ready for pickup at your selected Troy-Miami County Public Library location.
How long does it take?
Most SearchOhio items arrive within 4-7 business days, although delivery times may vary depending on availability and shipping conditions. We receive deliveries daily.
How long can I keep SearchOhio items?
Loan periods and renewal policies are set by the lending library and may differ from Troy library materials. Staff can let you know the due date and whether renewals are available when you check out your item.
Is there a cost?
No. SearchOhio and SEO are free services available to Troy-Miami County Public Library cardholders.
