Unearth a Story – Summer Reading Challenge 2026
Get ready for a summer of discovery, imagination, and adventure at the Troy-Miami County Public Library.
From June 1 through August 1, readers of all ages are invited to take part in Unearth a Story, our annual Summer Reading Program. Whether you’re a child just beginning your reading journey, a teen exploring new interests, or an adult looking for your next great read, this program is designed for you. Dive into great books, take on our reading challenge, and experience a full season of programs that inspire curiosity and creativity.
We’re kicking things off in a big way with a special visit from the Columbus Zoo in the park—an exciting event you won’t want to miss. And that’s just the beginning. Throughout the summer, we’ll host a variety of unforgettable programs featuring guest presenters such as Ranger Vic, Dino Buddies, Chris Rowlands, and Food Fun with Katie Blauser of Eat Pretty Darling. Alongside these special events, you can also enjoy your favorite library offerings, including story times, book clubs, and hands-on DIY crafts. From interactive learning experiences to engaging performances, there’s something for everyone. Details will be available on our Events calendar.
The Summer Reading Challenge is open to all ages, allowing participants to track their reading and earn chances to win fun prizes along the way. Pre-registration begins May 15 on Beanstack, making it easy to set your reading goals early and start planning your summer.
If you prefer to register in person, sign-ups will be available beginning June 1 at the Troy Main Branch, the Oakes-Beitman Memorial Library in Pleasant Hill, and aboard the Troy Bookmobile.
As an added bonus, everyone who registers by June 30 will be entered for a chance to win tickets to Kings Island—just one more reason to join the fun. Whether you’re discovering a new favorite author, attending exciting programs, or simply spending quality time with family and friends, the library is your destination for summer fun.
Join us this summer and Unearth a Story. We look forward to seeing you at the library.
