Honoring Our Veterans

Want to help a veteran? Here’s a quick and easy way to make someone’s day amazing. Join us in helping and supporting Honor Flight of Dayton by writing letters to our local veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War who take the trip of a lifetime to Washington D.C. to see their memorials. Stop by the library to write your letter or follow these tips below and write them at home. Just deliver them to the specially decorated "Mailbox" located by the Giving Tree in the library sometime this month.

WRITE A LETTER TO  HONOR A VETERAN:

·  Start your letter -  “ Dear Veteran…”

·  Tell them about you: Talk about your life, your hobbies, the veterans you know

·  Use first names only

·  Draw or color a picture

·  No need to put dates

·  Please do not seal the envelope

·  Bring to the library and put in the decorated mailbox

Thank you for taking the time to write to a veteran that will really appreciate it!

Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. The group transports veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at the memorials. On their return flight, veterans are surprised with letters from family, friends, and even strangers thanking them for their service. For more information visit www.honorflightdayton.org
