Black Soldiers in the Civil War, Ohio 55th Regiment

Jan 17 2010 6:30 pm

Paul Sarber, a volunteer at the Local History Library, has assembled a great deal of information about Ohio's 55th Regiment.  This group was comprised of black soldiers, many of them from Miami County.  They fought during many battles of the Civil War.  Some of them are buried around the Civil War monument at Riverside Cemetary, which at the time was segregated.  Paul will share what he has learned about these soldiers on Martin Luther King Day.  Call the library at 339-0502 to register or for questions.
